US industrial production, output at the nation's factories, mines, and utilities, rose 0.3% in March. The number is way above estimates, as economists were expecting a negative 0.1% for the month. The March number follows a downwardly revised 0.7% decline in February. For the quarter, industrial production declined 0.1%, after increasing 0.4% in the 4th quarter.
Industrial production was up 1.6% in the past year.
