The non-manufacturing sectors of the US economy contracted for a second consecutive month, but at a slower pace than expected. The ISM services index rose to 49.3%, from 44.6%, according to the Institute of Supply Management. Economists were expecting an increase to 47.9%.
The business activity index rose to 50.8%, from 41.9%. New orders rose to 49.6% from 43.5%.
